What's the ground like?
JJB Stadium was built in 1999 and it has been said that this is a magnificent stadium. This stadium is not totally enclosed with all corners being open.
The stadium is shared with Wigan Rugby Club, and despite Wigan claiming they use a new type grass to keep the pitch immaculate on Villas visit in 2007 the pitch was worse than you would expect on a Sunday League pitch.
Directions
Leave the M6 to Junction 25 then take the A49 to Wigan. After around two miles you should pass an Aldi store on your left, before reaching a large roundabout, that is traffic light controlled.
Turn left at this roundabout into Robin Park Road and continue into Scot Lane. The ground is down Scot Lane on your right.
Parking

There is a large car park behind the away end, which costs £4. However, if you park here expect delays getting out. Alternatively, there looked to be street parking available.
DO NOT park on the retail park next to the ground, as there is a two hour limit, and I have witnessed cars being slapped with parking tickets. Pictures

Away Fan's Experience

Away fans are housed in the north stand, one of the goal ends. They are allocated the whole of the end, which can hold up to 5,400.
The view from the away end is good, and a noticeable factor is that even a few fans in this stand can generate a good atmosphere.
Where to drink

A plus point about a visit to the JJB is the Wiganers hospitality, and therefore you shouldn't be surprised that the club put on a marquee with a bar, specifically for away fans. The marquee is at the stadium itself, and welcomes 'lads' groups as well as families, however, there is a limit of 300, so it can get full pretty quickly.
The Red Robin is the most popular watering hole for away fans. This is located on the retail estate next to the ground, and is only two minutes walk from the JJB. The pub usually gets full, with many fans standing outside.
Although I didn't see any other away fans pubs near the ground, a number of Villa fans were drinking in the bars of the restaurants on the retail estate. This seemed like a good bet for a quieter drink.
If you don't fancy any of these suggestions, you could always drink in Wigan Town Center, where there are a number of pubs.
