What's the ground like?

As you approach Newcastle you notice two things. The Angel of the North and of course St James Park. The closer you get to the ground however, the more it looks like a multi story car park.

Once inside, and you have climbed the 10,000 steps as you walk towards your seats you have to stop and admire the stadium, despite being a dull gray and black, its quite a site.

Directions

Follow the A1, A68 then A6127 to cross the Tyne. At the next roundabout, take the first exit into Moseley Street.

Turn left into Neville Street, then right at the end for Clayton Street and then Newgate Street. Then turn left for Leazes Park Road.

Parking

There is a few multi-story car parks scattered around Newcastle City Center and cost anything from £2 - £16 depending on how long you are staying there. Be aware however that it may take some time to get out of these car parks after the game.

Street Parking is available on Barrock Road and just off Shanhope Street but arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Away Fan's Experience

Not friendly for those who are unfit or have a dodgy heart as you will have to climb fourteen (14) flights of stairs, and don't forget your binoculars as it feels like you are looking down from a airplane your that high. The away fan is located in the Sir John Hall stand in the North West corner of the ground and usually get around 3000 tickets.

St James Park is known as a stadium with a lot of legroom, and one of the best in the country. They have a good choice of refreshments and are famous for there pies including the 'Footballs Famous Chicken Balti Pie'. They do have a section where alcohol is served after that long walk up the stairs.

Where to drink

With St James Park situated in the center of the City there are a few places where away fans can drink. They tend to be around the railway stations, they include 'O'Neills', 'A Head of Steam' and 'The Lounge'. However, they will not allow entry unless you cover your colors up and don't allow any children at all.
