Paul Lambert has set his Aston Villa side a target of 6 victories from their final 13 Premier League fixtures. To most teams you would believe that could be positive but lets just put it into context from a Villa point of view. It has taken 42 games over two seasons for the Claret and Blue army to achieve that feat!
Sam Alladyce and his West Ham side are the visitors for tomorrows lunch time kick off at Villa Park. Results have got Lambert’s way today but they won’t mean anything unless Villa can go on to win against a side who would be sitting just above QPR and Reading if it was based on away form.
Having said that – Newcastle were in a similar position but took three points from Villa Park just a few weeks ago.
The form guide shows that Villa have picked up just 4 points from a possible 18 at home – losing their previous four while West Ham have picked up just a single point in the same amount of games.
Aston Villa: Ashley Westwood is a doubt for the game as he tries to recover from a bug.
Karim El Ahmadi and Fabian Delph are both in line to start after recovering from knee and ankle injuries respectively.
Simon Dawkins will be pushing to feature in a Claret and Blue shirt for the first time.
West Ham: Defensive duo James Collins (hamstring) and George McCartney (knee) have both been ruled out.
Modibo Maiga has returned to the club following his nations defeat in the African cup of Nations but is unlikely to feature.
