WINDOW CLOSED (17:00)
Reverse psychology – the final countdown (16:00)
We are done … can’t see anything else happening!
Simple assessment (15:00)
Simply put, I think keeping Grealish and Chester along with the additions of Nyland, Moreira, McGinn and Tuanzebe are both a good start and a million miles better than we feared just a month or so ago. Remember the window remains open for loans until 31st August so I’d expect more to happen between now and then. A left back and a striker remain a priority.
Plenty of loans possible after the window shuts today. No need to panic. Getting Tuanzebe, McGinn and two keepers in is an excellent start. #avfc

Three hours to go (14:00)
Nothing new to report other than Lukas Nmecha, the Manchester City youngster who was linked with Villa after being seen at the Hull game. He’s now off to Preston North End on a season long loan deal.
Tottenham press conference and Knudsen (13:00)
In what has been a quiet start to the afternoon, Mauricio Pochettino is about to carry out his press conference and the Grealish questions will surely be thrown into the ring. Other news is the continued link to Ipswich left back Jonas Knudsen.
5 hours to go (12:00)
Quiet half an hour nothing new to report other than the ongoing Grealish theories.
Redknapp claims last minute deal (11:30)
Harry Redknapp can’t help getting involved on deadline day. He went on Talksport to say Levy will push through a last minute deal. We’ll see Harry …

Gary Gardner to join Craig at St Andrews (11:05)
It appears Gary Gardner the lifelong Villa fan is off to join his brother Craig the lifelong fan of whoever he plays for at Birmingham City. It will be his seventh loan deal. I’m not saying any more on it other than what a header that was.

Abraham no go (11:00)
Tammy Abraham looks set to remain at Chelsea to fight for his place. With new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri unsure over Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud, Abraham looks set to be given a chance to show his worth.

Villa to hijack Chelsea prospect (10:50)
Jay Dasilva now being linked on loan. The ironic part of this deal would be the fact that he was reportedly off to Bristol City. The man Joe Bryan was supposedly joining us from but went to Fulham instead … Did that all make sense?

New name linked in quest for striker (10:40)
Julio Tavares becomes the latest name linked to Aston Villa. The Ligue 1 striker plays for Dijon and is an international for Cape Verde. No jokes about whether he can ‘cut the mustard’.

New deal for Grealish? (10:25)
There are a few reports doing the rounds regarding a new four year deal for Grealish which will see him more than double his current wages. There is also a reported clause which would allow him to move next summer should Villa miss out on promotion again.

Bjarnason to return to Italy? (10:10)
Icelandic midfielder Birkir Bjarnason is being linked to Empoli. Having already payed for Pescara and often in Italy during prolonged breaks it wouldn’t be the biggest shock but it’s only just starting to be mentioned.

Alternatives to Bryan (09:55)
Should Villa go for a left back, with Joe Bryan seemingly off to Fulham who would you like to see? I’ve seen and heard a lot of people calling for a look at Rico Henry (Brentford) should that be viable. A local lad and formerly of Walsall as well as a firm favourite of Dean Smith. Despite his pace and ability I would be surprised due to the long term knee injury he has been trying to recover from.
Snodgrass return (09:50)
The Birmingham Mail are reporting that Steve Bruce is still monitoring the situation of West Ham winger Robert Snodgrass. After his successful loan last season at Villa and the love shown by the fans at the recent pre-season friendly it could have legs, especially with the amount of signings West Ham have brought in. Again, it could happen after today as it would be a loan deal.

I can’t see it happening! (09:45)
We’ve all heard the ‘Ronaldinho spotted at Nandos’ and ‘Messi at Tesco’ rumours. Not quite on that scale but Christian Benteke rumours are doing the rounds. I think a return is wishful thinking from some!
Further rumours (09:30)
Villa continue to be linked to Isaac Success from Watford on loan. The 22 year old, Nigerian forward spent time on loan at Malaga last season and the regular playing time could provide a solution for all parties.
Sheyi Ojo links are back again as they were first mentioned earlier in summer.

Morning reports (08:30)
A quick look across the media outlets and it’s dominated by Jack Grealish as expected. Several papers reporting that Grealish is furious and has told the club he will not sign another contract. Jack’s brother was quick to add his thoughts!

Further reports this morning are involving a potential departure for Albert Adomah.

Joe Bryan’s last minute U-turn to Fulham is happening and he’s set for a medical according to Sky Sports News.
So it begins … (08:00)
Good morning everyone, the yellow tie is on, the phone, iPad and laptop are on and it’s Deadline Day.
Traditionally a quiet day for Aston Villa but there are numerous stories to keep an eye on today.
Jack Grealish – I wouldn’t put it past Spurs or someone else coming in late despite yesterday and the apparent ‘hands off’ statement.
Joe Bryan – Reported agreed terms, passed a medical and signed. However, Fulham called and his had appears to have turned.
Other linked incomings – Jonas Knudsen (Ipswich Town)
Isaac Success (Watford)
I fully expect us to go for a left back and a striker, however it should be noted that although the window closes at 5pm today, the loan window doesn’t close until 31st August.
There could be several outgoings too to trim the squad and wage bill. Albert Adomah has been linked to Leeds United and a return to Middlesbrough has also been mentioned.
Only time will tell.
Get involved and let us know who you’d realistically like to see and any potential outgoings. Here we go!
