With all the negativity flying around Villa Park in the recent weeks about our big players leaving, there has been some good news about our youngsters.
The Daily Mail has recently reported that our most prestigious youngsters WILL be integrated into the first team at Villa due to losing some of our main starters after the season came to a close and those betting on football would probably suggest that its Villa’s only option.
Players such as Keinan Davis, Andre Green, Callum O’hare, Mitchell Clark, Jake Doyle-Hayes and Rushian Hepburn Murphy are likely to feature next season in our 3rd crack at promotion. Some of these players have already featured in the Championship for Villa and hopefully, they are ready to step up in the absence of our first team players.
I recently made an article discussing the fact that we need to make the most of our youngsters and this is exactly what Villa fans wanted to hear with the recent disarray at Villa. It at least brings a glimmer of hope that the big clubs aren’t going to completely tear our squad to shreds and we can hopefully have a good core in the team next season.
The Birmingham Mail has placed a bit of added emphasis on striker Rushian Hepburn-Murphy. They have reported that Villa will reject all bids for the England U20 striker, whether it is a loan or a permanent enquiry. The Birmingham Mail has also stated that Hepburn-Murphy will be joining the first team at the pre-season training camp in Portugal, which will be good for him to get to grips with the prospect of featuring regularly next season.
The championship is also about having a very fit squad, as there is often 2 games a week in the league and then you have the League and FA Cup on top of this. The youngsters mentioned will hopefully be fit and raring to battle the challenge of fatigue next season and if we can keep players such as Conor Hourihane, Jack Grealish and Jonathan Kodjia then there are very good foundations for us to be challenging next season.
I know it is very optimistic but we all need a light at the end of the tunnel following such a difficult few weeks as Villa fans. I also genuinely believe that our youth squad is one of the best and will prove their worth in the Championship.
