Villa v QPR – Preview

 Aston Villa vs QPR
Sky Bet Championship
19:45 – Tuesday 13th March 2018
Villa Park, Birmingham

Aston Villa will be looking to build on their fantastic victory when they take on QPR tomorrow in the re-arranged fixture at Villa Park.

Villa will have to be careful of complacency when they come up against QPR as no doubt their morale will be high following the 4-1 win over Championship leaders Wolves at the weekend. Steve Bruce’s men have picked up 31 points from a possible 36 in their previous 12 league games.

There is no real love loss between QPR boss Ian Holloway and Villa supporters so he will want his side to be well up for this one despite having a very average season. The R’s are currently sitting 16th in the Championship but they should have enough about them to not have to look over their shoulders. QPR are undefeated in two games after a draw with Derby County and a 1-0 win over bottom of the league Sunderland at the weekend.

There are still question marks over Glenn Whelan (calf), Andre Green, Axel Tuanzebe and Alan Hutton (all hamstring) who all missed the victory over Wolves.

Jonathan Kodjia is back in training but it is unlikely that we will see him again this season but not impossible according to Bruce.

QPR will be without Jamie Mackie and Idrissa Syla. Both have been out for a while but are edging closer to fitness. Grant Hall (knee) and David Wheeler (ankle) are also unavailable.

  • Villa hasn’t lost against QPR in their last eight home league games (W6, D2).
  • Since Holloway’s appointment, QPR has lost 20 games away from home, more than any other side in the division.
  • Bruce has won nine of his last ten game against QPR (D1).

Aston Villa is expecting a crowd of around 30,000. It is unclear how many QPR are expected to bring but they don’t usually travel too well away from home.

Tickets are priced at just £20 to £33 for adults and £15 to £20 for concessions. U21s can attend for between £10 to £17 and U16s from £5 to £10. Family packages are available at £45 to £55 (two adults and two U16s).
