Burton v Aston Villa – Preview

Burton Albion vs Aston Villa
Sky Bet Championship
19:45 – Tuesday 26th September 2017
Pirelli Stadium, Burton

Aston Villa will take the short trip to Midland rivals Burton Albion tonight as they meet in the Championship. Villa has sold all of their 1,580 tickets.

The Villans currently sit 9th in the Championship just two points outside of the play-off positions. Steve Bruce’s men are unbeaten in six league games having won their last two games against Barnsley and Nottingham Forest.

Nigel Clough’s Burton side are 19th in the table and are undefeated in three league games (W1, D2).

Bookies have Bruce’s men as heavy favourites here and with your argos promotional code, you may just be able to cash in.

Bruce is expected to stick with the same side that beat Nottingham Forest the weekend. Gabriel Agbonlahor is back in training and will be pushing for a place on the bench.

Villa will also check the fitness on Henri Lansbury and Mile Jedinak while Jack Grealish is still unavailable.

Albion is hoping that defenders Jake Buxton and John Brayford will be fit after picking up nocks in the 0-0 draw with QPR at the weekend.

On loan Wolves forward, Joe Mason and Matty Lund will be in contention after recovering from injuries. Midfielder Will Miller is still struggling with a hamstring injury.

  • This will be the third time the two teams have met. Villa won their home fixture and drew the away game last season.
  • Nigel Clough has failed to beat Steve Bruce as a manager in five attempts.
  • Burton has kept just one clean sheet in their previous 19 home fixtures.
  • Villa is hoping to win back to back away games for the first time since September 2014.

Aston Villa has sold all of their tickets so fans are advised not to travel without tickets. If you are going to the game then you can check out our away days guide here.
