Barnsley vs Aston Villa
Sky Bet Championship
17.30 – Saturday 16th September 2017
Oakwell, Barnsley
Live on Sky Sports

Aston Villa will today head up North the M1 to take on Barnsley in the Championship which will be live on Sky Sports. Around 3,400 supporters are expected to travel.

Steve Bruce’s men currently occupy the 18th position and are slowly drifting away from a playoff position. Villa has only managed a single win this season so far, drawing 4 and losing 3. Villa’s away form is a problem and they will be hoping to build on the 1-1 draw the last time they played away at Bristol City. Despite a lot of negativity most bookmakers like free bets still have Aston Villa as favourites especially when you use the tvg promo code.

Barnsley is sitting three places above Villa in 15th place on 7 points. 6 of them 7 points have come from playing at Oakwell. They have scored in every game so far this season in the League.

Aston Villa could welcome back on-loan midfielder Josh Onomah after he missed the game against Middlesbrough with an injury.

Neil Taylor will be accessed as he has 8 stitches in his shin and Mile Jedinak is a bit sore following his comeback game in mid-week.

Jack Grealish is back at Bodymoor Heath but Bruce stated he is still a while away.

Barnsley will be without Gary Gardner who is on loan from Aston Villa and is not allowed to play against his parent club. He is also nursing a dead leg.

Angus MacDonald could return after serving a three-game ban, while winger Adam Hammill and midfielder Harvey Barnes are both expected to shake off knocks and feature.

Lloyd Isgrove (foot) could make his first appearance this season after returning to training.

  • Barnsley have never beaten Aston Villa at Oakwell.
  • Villa has lost 2 of their last 3 games against Barnsley with the other being a draw last season.
  • This will be the first time Conor Hourihane has returned to Oakwell following his departure to Aston Villa last season.
  • Steve Bruce has lost each of his last four appearances as manager at Oakwell.

There are a few tickets available on the gate should any fans play to travel without tickets. Tickets are priced at £30.

Villa is expected to take at least 3,400 fans.
