Ashton Gate Stadium Bristol

Aston Villa will head down the M5 tomorrow with 3,600 fans in toe as they take on Bristol City in a Friday night Championship fixture which will also be shown live on Sky Sports Football.

Steve Bruce’s men have had a pretty good week so far picking up two victories (against Norwich and Wigan) while also scoring eight goal and they will be hoping to put their ‘away TV’ voodoo to one side and make it three wins in a week.

Bristol City caused a shock in the Carabao Cup this week when they knocked out Premiership outfit Watford with a 3-2 win. In their four league games so far this season they have managed a win, a loss and two draws.

Keinan Davis (hamstring) and Josh Onomah (head) should both be available after picking up knocks in the win over Norwich.

Mile Jedinak was expected to make a return but it now looks like he will miss out with illness. Jack Grealish and Jonathan Kodjia are still missing.

Bristol are set to welcome back both Matty Taylor (groin) and on-loan striker Cauley Woodrow (cup-tied) after they missed the mid-week game against Watford.

Lee Johnson has said that the home side do have one injury issue but wouldnt reveal the identity of the player in his pre-match press conference.

  • Aston Villa have won 3 of the last 4 meetings with Bristol but lost in the exact same fixture last season.
  • Bristol have won their last 5 fixtures played on a Friday night.
  • Aston Villa have only won 1 league game without Mile Jedinak in 2017.
  • Bristol City have won 5 of their last 7 home games (D1,L1).

There are around 50 tickets left from the allocation Aston Villa were given. Tickets are only available if you are in a position to collect from the ticket office. Purchase tickets here.

  1. Tough game but with Davis fit and Hogan ready to step in I believe we may just have the edge, this will though be a Sturn test of our new found confidence and our ability to win an away game, I’m not over confident but hoping for the best could be a turning point in our season.

  2. Why are we selling player’s that actually play in the Aston Villa team, whereas Micah Richards who has hardly played in the last 2 seasons, is never mentioned as a player to be released/ sold on or even loaned out? He must be exceptionally lucky to be paid exceeding good money for not doing his job, I would pay his contract up and get him out as fast as possible, for he is a waste of space.
