Jordan Veretout has today completed his much-anticipated move away from Aston Villa when he signed for Serie A side Fiorentina.
Veretout joins Viola in a deal that is said to be worth around £6.75 million (€7million) plus add-ons.
The 24-year old has signed a four year deal in Italy which ends a pretty miserable two-year spell with Aston Villa.
Veretout signed for Aston Villa for around £8.5 million (according to transfermarkt) in 2015 and went on to make 29 appearances that season. He was part of the side that was relegated at the end of the 2015-16 season.
The midfielder then joined St Etienne on a loan deal in the summer of 2016 and Veretout always made it clear that he wanted to make the deal a permanent one.
Veretout will link up with former Villa midfielder Carlos Sanchez who made his loan spell at Fiorentina permanent earlier this summer.
It is thought that this deal means Aston Villa have made around £9 million in departures so far this summer.
Ross McCormack on his way to Sunderland
Sunderland has opened talks with Aston Villa over a potential loan-deal that will see Ross 
McCormack move to the North on a season-long loan deal, according to the Daily Mail.
It is thought that the 30-year-old will be allowed to leave Villa Park after manager Steve Bruce left him out of the squad that travelled to Germany this past weekend.
Sunderland boss Simon Grayson is said to want McCormack to replace Jermaine Defoe who joined Bournemouth this summer.
McCormack cost Villa around £12 million last summer but has struggled on the pitch and has also has reported off the field problems since the move. The striker scored just 3 goals in 22 for Bruce’s men last season before joining Nottingham Forest on loan. During his loan spell, he failed to make a single appearance.
It was thought that the former Leeds striker would be given a second chance by Steve Bruce but it appears his days are now numbered at Villa Park.
I’ve said it before, but letting McCormack go on loan to a rival is complete lunacy he could do us untold damage, this time next year season he will be turning 32 and will be worth nothing, so tell Sunderland to use some of their parachute payment to buy him or take a hike, can’t believe our management and board would even consider another loan for a player that cost 12 m ok we might only get a proportion back but that’s what we should be doing. And now that Veretout has gone for a good price with no thanks to our board again, maybe we can get in another striker as back up for Kodjia.

and we may bring in another forward as im still not convinced by gabby and im still not convinced hogan will get the service he needs or if he can play alongside kodjia although we all are a bit happier since he bagged

If Sunderland want him they should be made to pay and pay well, just as we were last summer. They are not short of money and the fact that we would be arming a direct promotion rival with a still very capable goalscorer must also be considered. Fortunately I think Dr. Tony and Keith Wyness will be astute enough to realise this, I can’t imagine he would be allowed to leave on the cheap and certainly not on loan.
