EFL 2017/18 fixtures


The fixtures for the new Sky Bet Championship, League one and League two campaigns are to be published at 9 am this morning.

Sky have also revealed that they will announce who will feature live on Sky Sports in the opening weekend at the same time.

Further TV announcements for fixtures during August and September should be revealed in early July.

Steve Bruce will surely have one eye on who Aston Villa will face in the curtain-raiser whileBruce will have one eye on the fixtures. supporters will no doubt have eyes on the derby dates with Birmingham City.

Aston Villa will be joined in the league by last year’s Premiership relegated trio Hull City, Middlesborough and Sunderland.

Sheffield United, Bolton and Millwall will complete the league as the three who were promoted from League one last season.

Sky Bet are making Middlesborough 13/2 favourites to win the league. Aston Villa is 7/1 while both Fulham and Norwich find themselves at 9/1.

Burton Albion is 6/4 favourites to be relegated despite survival last season. Barnsley are 2/1 while both Millwall and Bolton are 9/4

Important Dates

  • The season will kick off on the weekend of August 4th-6th and will conclude on May 5th. One week before the Premiership season starts.
  • The playoff final will take place at Wembley Stadium on the 28th May.
  • The Carabao Cup (League Cup) starts in the week commencing August 7th.

Although we all love new fixture day I wouldn’t get too excited or plan your holiday’s around them as no doubt many will be changed due to TV and local authorities.

Aston Villa will build up to the new season with eight fixtures during their pre-season. Trips to Walsall, Watford a couple 45minute friendlies in Germany are included in the schedule.
