Various sections of the media have recently begun to link Aston Villa with a move for Burnley winger George Boyd while top goalscorer Johnathan Kodjia tweets an injury update.
Former Peterborough winger, Boyd, who turns 32 later this year has reportedly turned down a new one-year contract extension with the Premier League outfit, according to the Daily Mail.
The former Scotland international has been a mainstay in Sean Dyche’s Burnley side this season, who should secure premiership survival in the coming weeks but he is reportedly on the look out for a two-year contract.
The Burnley boss was recently quoted saying: ‘ There are ongoing conversations with varying people and that’s the nature of the business. He’s one of many we’ve been speaking to, to know what the script is and know they’re settled.’
It is very easy to see where the link has come from though. Boyd and Villa manager Steve Bruce spent time with each other at Hull but there will no doubt be some Premiership clubs watching on to see the outcome of any talks.
He would bring to Villa some much-needed experience and give us another option out wide taking the pressure off Albert Adomah and Andre Green.
Kodjia injury update
Jonathan Kodjia has today hinted that he could be in line for a return to the first team this coming weekend against Reading.
The Ivory Coast international was substituted early with a suspected dead leg and Steve Bruce hinted that he hoped the injury wasn’t too serious.
Villa’s winning run come to an end when they could only manage a 1-1 draw with Burton Albion the weekend as they clearly missed their top goalscorer.
Kodjia has taken to his official Twitter today, ahead of games against Reading and Fulham suggesting that he should be fit for both games.
Thanks for the messages much appreciated. Feeling sore this morning but the physio will get me back in no time. We go again next week 🦁💪#UTV

Kodjia firstly thanked the fans for their much-appreciated support and went on to say that although he felt sore he expects to be ready to go again next week.
This will be welcomed by the Villa faithful who will be hoping their star striker can continue with his goal scoring run to help finish the season on a high.
