Antonio Luna is the latest player to be offloaded by Aston Villa Football Club this summer following just seventeen appearances in two seasons with the club.
Luna, who was quickly nicknamed ‘Tony Moon’ when he was signed by the Villans back in 2013 from Sevilla, struggled to make Villa’s left back position his own during his first season with the club.
He will always be remembered by Villa fans for his goal against Arsenal on his debut that saw us cause a major upset and beat the Gunners 3-1 at the Emirates.
The following season he was loaned out to Serie A side Hellas Verona but he failed to impress there. He then moved to Serie B team Spezia Calcio in February 2015.
The twenty-four-year-old made just four appearances for Calcio, getting sent off in his second game for the club.
Last night, La Liga side SD Eibar confirmed the signing of Luna on a two-year deal. It is as yet unclear whether they have paid a fee but most believe Luna was allowed to leave Aston Villa on a free transfer to free up even more money for wages.
He will be presented to his new club’s fans today.
Luna has become the eighth player to leave Aston Villa this summer.
