Aston Villa v Hull City – Opposition View

In Opposition Views

This fixture last season cemented our Premier League status with an impressive 3-1 victory. Can the Villans get over the mid-week home loss in the Capital One Cup with a victory over Hull City? I have asked Hull City fans what they think about tomorrow afternoon’s fixture:

1) How do you feel the summer transfer dealings have gone for Hull City?

I don’t think anyone has done better business than us. I’m highly satisfied.

2) Was selling Shane Long, after such a short spell at the KC, the right decision?

Yes and no: he’ll never be prolific so to take the profit makes business sense but we’re having to spend the same (or a similar) amount to get this Uruguayan lad in who may not actually be any better.

3) Do you feel the FA Cup proved a distraction last season? Could the Europa League prove to be a distraction this season?

Maybe – but most of us would be willing to take the risk and enjoy it. It probably won’t happen for us again soon.

4) Where do you think Hull City will finish in the Premier League table this season?

Somewhere from 11th to 17th, hopefully towards the top end of that prediction.

5) Who do you consider to be the best and worst signings so far in the Premier League this window?

The best signing has to be Mario Balotelli. He could also prove to be the worst.

6) What are your thoughts on the situation at Villa, looking on from the outside?

I honestly thought they would be serious relegation candidates before the season started. The win at Stoke was a good sign – but still I don’t see them flourishing this season. That ‘golden’ generation of youth players simply haven’t kicked on.

7) Which Aston Villa player would you like to have in your Hull City team and why?

Benteke for sure when fit. Of the rest, Vlaar is handy but we’re strong at centre-back already so probably Delph.

8) Which player should Aston Villa fear this weekend and why?

Nikica Jelavic. He gets slated for not scoring enough but is going to have a good season with all our fast/creative players supporting him.

9) What is your match prediction?

1-1 – Villa Park is a tough task usually.

Extra time:

10) Playstation or Xbox?

Neither, laptop and FM14 please.

11) Cat or dog?
