It is often said that Twitter is no longer what it used to be but I have to say it still has its uses and today’s article is based on something that was brought to my attention by a fellow Villa supporter.
Liam Reeves has been doing his research and he asked the following question this morning:
The question prompted the usual funny answers and, of course, there are those who generally believe certain aspects of his game could be improved. From what I could see from the responses, it seemed most thought the same as I did, which is probably what you are thinking now – his kicking.
Although his kicking does need improving, having watched a few videos, Liam worked out that his right hand side seems to be his weak spot and to be honest it is quite worrying. Here are just some youtube videos of goals he has conceded this season and notice which side they all go in.

So that is just three videos with six goals conceded (from a possible 18 this season) all down the right side. I am sure if we were to look for more videos from the past couple of seasons we would see the same issue.
This isn’t an attempt to put down our goalkeeper, who has proved himself to be one of the best in the division, but if Liam can spot something like this it wont be long before other clubs are spotting it (if they haven’t already).
I have expressed my worries in the past about weaknesses of our players and once they get found out they struggle. This is something the coaching staff need to help Brad Guzan to improve. Otherwise, both he and Aston Villa will be in big trouble.
